Movie Review: Day Break (Om jag vänder mig om)

This wonderful Swedish movie is well basically about life. Starting at daybreak and following 3 different families and the lives they lead Björn Runge weaves an intricate web of life, disappointment and acceptance. Rickard is a surgeon married to Agnes and has two children and lives in a gorgeous house. Anita is a bitter ex-wife who is dumped after 22 years for a younger, more attractive 'Petra' and has a tough time dealing with it. Olof is a brick-layer who never has the time for his wife and daughter, since he wants to provide enough comforts for the both them. It is bleak and uplifting at the same time. It is about marriage, parenthood, infidelity, changing times, predictability, people. I think it sticks to the traditions of Bergman but as applied to the current world, with the majority of the movie being shot indoors. I would highly recommend this movie if one is in search of a quiet intelligent and moving movie. It also features a song by Ebba Forsberg who has an amazing voice.
