Movies viewed week of 07/24
Well, since I have not been really doing a good job of writing reviews of movies might as well at least keep track of the movies I have been seeing.
1. In Good Company (2004) (English) (US)
2. Madame Brouette (2002) (French) (Senegal)
3. The Warrior (2001) (Hindi) (UK)
4. Danny Deckchair (2003) (English) (Australia)
I liked In good company, though there is not much substance to the movie. But is enjoyable all the same.
For the folks who liked City of God, Madame Brouette might find some appeal. It was certainly an interesting movie.
The warrior was a brutal movie, but it is certainly a beautiful movie. It goes on to show how you do not need too many dialogues to convey a message. While the era of the movie is slightly ambiguous we can imagine it was sometime in the feudal Lord era. There are elements of the tale of the Emperor Ashoka and some inspiration from Macbeth for 'All the perfumes of Arabia
will not sweeten this little hand' scene. Definitely not for people who dislike arthouse movies.
In the light hearted comedy genre Danny Deckchair is highly recommended.
